The diagrams below will show you where the cameras and buttons located on Mutual Aid iPads and what they are called.

There is also a description of each item and what it does.  Additionally, it also shows some accessories you can expect to find.




iPad - Front View


1. Front Camera - Typically used to take selfies.  It won't be used frequently on Mutual Aid iPads.

2. Power Button - Turns the iPad on and off with a "long press" and used for taking screenshots.

3. Volume Buttons - Controls the audio volume on the iPads.

4. Home Button - This button is used to return to the Home Screen, pictured below.  It can also be used to close apps when you tap it twice, quickly.


Powering On - Press and hold button #2 for several seconds until the Apple Logo is visible.  Release the power button and let the iPad turn on.



Powering Off - Press and hold 2 for several second until the screen displays slide to power off.  Put your finger on the power button and slide it to turn the iPad off.




Taking Screenshots - Press button #2 + button #4 at the same time

(Please keep in mind, this takes a picture of EVERYTHING on the screen.  Make sure you are maintaining HIPAA Compliance)

6. Headphone Jack - Listen to audio with headphones

7. Lightening Connector / Charging Port - used to plug a lightening cable into the iPad to charge it.

 Lightening Cable Examples

At Mutual Aid, we use 2 different lightening cables, but only one end of each cable fits into the iPad as pictured below.  The other end of the cable goes into the charging brick or USB port in the vehicle.






Charging Brick / Car Charger
At Mutual Aid we use charging bricks that look similar to these pictured below. If you find one that is damaged or lost, please report this to IT so we can get the equipment replaced.

iPad Case - Patient Care iPad Case

Patient Care iPads come in a case as pictured below.  Each iPad may have a kickstand pictured below depending on preference of the crew that typically operates that Ambulance.  We have additional kickstands in IT if your Ambulance doesn't have one.  If your iPad has a kickstand, it will look the 3rd iPad pictured below.  The kickstand snaps to the back of the iPad for storage.






iPad Mount - Driver iPad

The Driver iPad is mounted into each Ambulance, Van, and some Mobile Units.
